If you could know it all lyrics and composition: Trevor Coleman V1 If you could know it all would you tell the world? would you impress great and small would you be their Lord? would they hear you? or would they fear you? A crown for your head a nail for your cross The path is not smooth for every gain a loss V2 If you could know it all would you tell your friends? influence him and her and hope to make some sense could they hear you? and still be near you? Embrace all your thoughts or a push against the wall The road of friendship is rare a curving rise and fall V3 If you could know it all would you tell your love? and share your new found view a visit from above? could she hear you? or even want to? Invitation to new heights may shake the status quo We cannot alter change only change the tone of flow V4 If you could know it all would you trust yourself? to be sure after all, the truth of higher self? can you hear it? or do you fear it? Only you can know where it sits inside Only you can tell in whom you can confide If you could know it all If you could know at all [one brief time]

about

COM trio are excited to present their second album: "PolyCOM".
The trio was born in Seville 2017, the result of the meeting of two of the most active musicians on the jazz scene in Andalusia, Javier Ortí and Nacho Megina, with Trevor Coleman, composer, pianist and trumpetist originally from New Zealand. After two years of intense activity, including numerous performances in Spain and Portugal, they decided to record their first album Comienzo (2019). The trio explores different sound textures in a flexible and experimental way. In this first work they begin to develop some compositions in a particular system of overlapping cycles, which Trevor Coleman calls polycycles. Each instrument plays in a different metric, binary or ternary, and they all coincide at one point so that the theme is constantly being constructed and deconstructed. On their 2nd CD PolyCOM (2023), the trio delves deeper into this concept, inevitably influenced by the work of the celebrated pianist and composer Dave Brubeck (1920-2012), who pioneered the incorporation of irregular metrics in jazz music. Iconic albums such as 'Time Out' (1959) or 'Time Changes' (1963), in addition to enjoying enormous popular success, have become models for the development of complex rhythmic concepts, frequent in contemporary jazz.
COM trio pays homage to Dave Brubeck's famous quartet, extending these rhythmic concepts and contributing the fruit of Trevor Coleman's doctorate research into the polycycle system. New works such as 'PolyBrubeck', 'PolyCOM' or 'PolyMontuno' illustrate this groundbreaking and infectious, popular and evocative, yet sophisticated new music.
